Baseball Recap: Shawnee Heights Has No Trouble Against Piper

Shawnee Heights lost to Piper on Tuesday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Thunderbirds blew past the Pirates 9-2. The Thunderbirds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.

Cambren Floberg was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits (and only one walk). Floberg was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

Floberg wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Camden Olson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI. That RBI was Olson's first of the season. Trone Purvis was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs.

Shawnee Heights' win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-4. As for Piper, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-7.

Shawnee Heights has already played their next matchup (against Mill Valley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Piper, they will be playing at home against Varsity Opponent at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
