Halifax came tearing into Wednesday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Line Mountain Eagles as they made off with a 13-2 victory. Considering the Wildcats have won four matches by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Brandon Schell made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Schell was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-1. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last ten games he's played dating back to last season.
In other batting news, Cohen Bechtel and Brayden Midile did most of the damage at the plate: Bechtel got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three RBI and one triple, while Midile scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three RBI gave Bechtel a new career-high. Eli Miller was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.
Halifax always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .704. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Halifax's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Line Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
