The Halls Red Devils lost against the Oak Ridge Wildcats on January 9th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Halls ended up on the wrong side of a rough 68-48 walloping at the hands of Oak Ridge. While losing is never fun, Halls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 188th, while Oak Ridge is ranked 33rd).
Despite the loss, Halls still got an impressive performance from Jake Lane, who scored 19 points. Lane hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Colby Comparato, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Halls struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Halls has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Oak Ridge, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-5.
Halls will be playing at home against Knoxville Central at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Knoxville Central is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Oak Ridge, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Campbell County at 6:00 p.m. on January 27th. Campbell County is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58.5 points per game.
