Whitney gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Mart Panthers 63-34. The Wildcats pushed the score to 63-26 by the end of the third, a deficit the Panthers cut but never quite recovered from.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ah'Maad Scott, who rushed for 104 yards, and also picked up 35 receiving yards and one TD. Alijha Johnson was another key player, throwing for 193 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Whitney is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will take on Benbrook at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mart, they will face off against Maypearl at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
