Even though The Caldwell Parish Spartans scored an imposing 42 points on Friday, the Buckeye Panthers still came out on top. Buckeye secured a 47-42 W over Caldwell Parish. This was payback for Buckeye, who suffered a 19-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Jim Burlew continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 178 yards and five touchdowns. Burlew is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last six games he's played. Buckeye also got help from Haidyn Boone who showed off his sure hands for 127 receiving yards.
Buckeye's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Caldwell Parish, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
Buckeye will be playing in front of their home fans against Marksville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Louisiana (Marksville is ranked 188th, while Buckeye is ranked 196th). As for Caldwell Parish, they will head out on the road to face off against Jena at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jena will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
