Baseball Game Preview: Fort Myers Green Wave vs. Island Coast Gators

Fort Myers is on a five-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Island Coast is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Fort Myers Green Wave will host the Island Coast Gators at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Fort Myers is headed into the match having just posted their closest win since February 10th on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against North Fort Myers, sneaking past 8-7. The Green Wave haven't had any issues with the Red Knights recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Jerron Moschella looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Ashton Mora was incredible, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Michael Magas was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

Meanwhile, Island Coast narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Estero 6-5. That's two games straight that the Gators have won by just one run.

Hunter Fretwell looked comfortable as he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Isaac Lopez, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Schoolcraft, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Island Coast's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Fort Myers, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
