Basketball Recap: Delilah Rahe's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Field over Streetsboro

Field lost against Streetsboro back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Field Falcons took a 52-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Streetsboro Rockets. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 276th, while the Rockets are ranked 112th).

Field lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Delilah Rahe, who posted eight points and eight rebounds. Rahe is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last nine games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mckayla Miller, who put up five points and three steals.

It was another big night for Naomi Benson, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards for Streetsboro. Olivia Johnson-Wilson was another key player, putting up six points along with six assists and six boards.

Field dropped their record down to 5-5 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Streetsboro, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.

Field will venture away from home to challenge Independence at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Independence will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Field surely won't give up without a fight. As for Streetsboro, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 47-45 defeat against Chippewa on the 4th.
