The Lugoff-Elgin Demons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 15th straight loss. They fell just short of Irmo by a score of 66-64. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the defeat, Lugoff-Elgin saw an underclassman step up: Jillian Rush dropped a double-double on 35 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rush has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendra Wilson, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Lugoff-Elgin dropped their record down to 3-17 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Irmo, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-8.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Richland Northeast the next time they take the court. Lugoff-Elgin will host Richland Northeast at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Irmo will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
