The Silver Bluff Bulldogs had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.2 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They blew past Chesterfield, posting a 58-19 victory on the road. The result was nothing new for Silver Bluff, who have now won six matchups by 25 points or more so far this season.
Silver Bluff had a senior duo take command as Krystal Johnson dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds and Ahminah Taylor scored 24 points along with four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Taylor has scored at least 25% of Silver Bluff's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinity Wilson, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and three steals.
Several Golden Rams players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kierra Diggs, who scored five points along with seven rebounds. Diggs scored a full 26.3% of Chesterfield's points, the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jaeda Johnson, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
Silver Bluff's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Chesterfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.
Silver Bluff and Barnwell will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Barnwell will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 246th, while Silver Bluff is ranked 34th). Chesterfield and Central will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Central is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
