Softball Recap: Make It Nine in a Row for Oak Ridge

Oak Ridge waltzed into their game on Wednesday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They blew past the Oran Eagles 11-3. The result was nothing new for the Blue Jays, who have now won 16 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Kaelyn Deckerd made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 19 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles.

In other batting news, Oak Ridge let Kinsley Bogenpohl and Madyson Ruehling run wild. Bogenpohl went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Ruehling went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI Ruehling has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Madalyn Schemel, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Oak Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .441 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Oak Ridge's win bumped their record up to 23-2. As for Oran, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-13.

As of now, neither Oak Ridge nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
