The South Iredell Vikings will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the A.L. Brown Wonders at 6:00 p.m. South Iredell is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season.
South Iredell suffered their biggest loss since December 8, 2023 on Wednesday. They were the victim of a tough 60-39 loss at the hands of Hickory Ridge. South Iredell has struggled against Hickory Ridge recently, as their contest on Wednesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Loss or not, South Iredell got some senior leadership from Daria Fink who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and Kayden Johnson who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played.
A.L. Brown was handed a 55-point loss in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against East Rowan on Wednesday. A.L. Brown skirted past East Rowan 48-45. The win was just what A.L. Brown needed coming off of a 73-18 defeat in their prior game.
A.L. Brown found their leader in underclassman Makenzie Goode-Roberts, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Goode-Roberts pulled down eight or more rebounds. Trinity Robinson was another key contributor, scoring three points along with six rebounds and five steals.
South Iredell's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for A.L. Brown, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: South Iredell have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 35.1 rebounds per game. It's a different story for A.L. Brown, though, as they've been averaging only 9.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
