The Delta Rabbits pushed their score all the way to 57 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 66-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Carbon. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Delta in their matchups with Carbon: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Delta still got an impressive performance from Cai Henderson, who scored 29 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Henderson has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last nine times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Chase, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Delta struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Carbon racked up 14 assists.
Carbon had a senior duo take command as Zeke Willson scored 17 points along with two steals and Kahner Raby dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. Raby hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. Ryker Butler was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Delta has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost ten of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Carbon, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Delta will face off against North Sanpete at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (North Sanpete is ranked 90th, while Delta is ranked 98th). Carbon will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Richfield at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st. Richfield will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
