Baseball Recap: Paetow Triumphs

Seven Lakes typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Paetow proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 9-4 win over the Spartans. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-7 last Tuesday.

Victor Salazar made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Paetow is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-9-1 otherwise. Salazar was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

In other batting news, Frederico Moran and Adniel Quiles Torres did most of the damage at the plate: Moran scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Quiles Torres scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5. Quiles Torres has become a key player for Paetow: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-9-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Matthew Scott, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The victory got Paetow back to even at 10-10-1. As for Seven Lakes, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-9.

Coming up, Paetow will head out to face off against Katy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Seven Lakes, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Tompkins at 6:00 p.m. The Spartans will need to watch out since the Falcons have now posted at least ten runs in their last six matchups.
