It was a good run, but Canyon Lake unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Pieper by a score of 49-47. While losing is never fun, Canyon Lake can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 356th, while Pieper is ranked 114th).
It was another big night for Ava Dixon, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 22 rebounds for Pieper. The matchup was Dixon's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Alison Naylor, who scored 8 points along with 12 rebounds.
Canyon Lake's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Pieper, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Canyon Lake is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Lockhart at 7:00 p.m. on December 5th. Lockhart will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. As for Pieper, they will head out on the road to face off against Cornerstone Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Cornerstone Christian is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.
