South Laurel lost to Clay County back in March of 2021, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The South Laurel Cardinals were the clear victor by a 70-47 margin over the Clay County Tigers. Winning may never get old, but the Cardinals sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row dating back to last season.

South Laurel had a senior duo take command as Jordan Mabe dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds and Colton Rawlings went 6 of 10from beyond the arc on his way to 23 points. The match was Mabe's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaiden McQueen, who posted nine points and five rebounds.

South Laurel pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 25.1 points. As for Clay County, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-1.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the South Laurel Cardinals face off against the North Laurel Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Clay County, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-57 win against Perry County Central on the 9th.
