This season hasn't been kind to the West Sioux Falcons, who are still winless after their fifth contest. They received a tough blow on Saturday as they fell 53-36 to Alcester-Hudson. While losing is never fun, West Sioux can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 352nd in Iowa, while Alcester-Hudson is ranked 80th in South Dakota).
Alcester-Hudson's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dominic Van egdom, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. Van egdom is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Mateo Kleinhans, who scored 14 points.
West Sioux's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-5. As for Alcester-Hudson, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.
West Sioux's road trip will continue as they head out to face Kingsley-Pierson/River Valley on December 18th. Kingsley-Pierson/River Valley will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. Alcester-Hudson will be home for the holidays to greet Canton at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Canton's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
