The Taft Greyhounds came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They wrapped up 2023 with a 75-57 win over Karnes City. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Jordan Villalobos continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 39 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was his ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of David Davis, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Taft pushed their record up to 14-9 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for Karnes City, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.
Taft will finish 2023 at home by hosting Nordheim at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Karnes City, they will head out on the road to face off against George West at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
