It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Northwestern Trojans had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 55-7 victory over Greenwood. The victory was familiar territory for Northwestern who now have 11 in a row.
Northwestern was led to victory by Finley Polk and Turbo Richard. Polk threw for 126 yards and three touchdowns, while Richard rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. Polk hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for four straight games. Jayden Woods got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Northwestern's defense and their six sacks. Danijay McMullen was especially locked on to Greenwood's QB and sacked him three times.
Northwestern's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 41.17 points. As for Greenwood, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
Northwestern will look to defend their home field on Friday against Greenville at 7:30 p.m. Greenville is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games. Greenwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
