After five games on the road, Summit Academy is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the San Juan Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Summit Academy is ranked 85th, while San Juan is ranked 107th).
Last Saturday, Summit Academy didn't have too much trouble with Parowan on the road as they won 50-31.
Avery Backus was her usual excellent self, scoring 15 points along with nine rebounds and eight assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Summit Academy's points. Kita Holmes was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Meanwhile, San Juan's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Whitehorse, falling 67-38.
Summit Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season. As for San Juan, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Summit Academy strolled past San Juan in their previous meeting back in February of 2016 by a score of 57-42. Will Summit Academy repeat their success, or does San Juan have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
