Adding to the longest winning streak in 2A District 8 this week, Northlake Christian beat Archbishop Hannan 20-7. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Wolverines.
Pope John Paul II took down Mt. Hermon 43-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
The Hawks' offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Korey Zeigler threw for 119 and 1 touchdown and Jason Brooks had 49 yards receiving. On the ground Michael Froeba contributed 103 yards. Daniel Hollander helped Archbishop Hannan's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 37 yards.
Brooks was the best wideout in the league this week as Archbishop Hannan fell to Northlake Christian. Brooks tallied 5 receptions for 49 yards. Hollander helped Archbishop Hannan's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 37 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, pat lambert's team's Zeigler and Brooks have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-11 quarterback Zeigler has thrown for 994 yards this season, while Brooks has 41 catches for 402 yards. Derrick Dillon from Pine leads the league in rushing with 1,441 yards.
The Raiders' offense has racked up 239 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Anthony Agresta's team has allowed only 78 on the year.
A big matchup in 2A District 8 this week will be when Pine takes on the Wolverines. As it stands, Bradley Seal's team is in fourth, while Northlake Christian is in first.
There should be lots of points scored when the Raiders and the Wolverines face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Pine comes in having scored 239 this season, while Northlake Christian has scored 226. The Raiders scored 26 points last week as they topped Springfield.
