Softball Recap: Kingman Academy Wins Going Away Against Anthem Prep

Kingman Academy's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They blew past the Anthem Prep Eagles 12-1. Considering the Tigers have won four matches by more than ten runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Emily Mathys made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Brady Sanders was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Taylee Mote was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Kingman Academy's win bumped their record up to 6-2-1. As for Anthem Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Coming up, Kingman Academy will look to defend their home field on Monday against Wickenburg at 3:45 p.m. As for Anthem Prep, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 18-3 defeat against Browne on the 21st.
