Vallivue is on an 11-game streak of home wins, while Skyview is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Falcons will welcome the Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Vallivue 3.9, Skyview 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Vallivue is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Cole Valley Christian, who was ranked sixth at the time (Vallivue was ranked ninth). The Falcons blew past the Chargers 7-1 on Saturday. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.
Cooper Crutcher was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Crutcher was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.
In other batting news, Eli Daniel was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Colt Augustus, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Skyview put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Monday. They never let Emmett get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. Those one runs were actually the fewest the Hawks have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
The result came thanks to Ledger Downs's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Skyview's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nixon Downs, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Skyview has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Vallivue, their victory bumped their record up to 18-1.
Skyview's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Vallivue hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .345. It's a different story for Skyview, though, as they've only averaged .233. Will they be able to contain Vallivue's hitters?
Vallivue might still be hurting after the 7-1 loss they got from Skyview in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Will the Falcons have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
