The South Iron Panthers put another one in the bag on Sunday to keep their perfect season alive. They managed a 53-47 win over St. Elizabeth. Given South Iron's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while St. Elizabeth is ranked 216th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
St. Elizabeth lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being NIck Heckemeyer, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Chipman, who scored 11 points.
South Iron's victory bumped their record up to 9-0. As for St. Elizabeth, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
South Iron will head out on the road to face off against St. Pius X at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Elizabeth won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Russellville at 6:00 p.m. on December 18th.
