1A Four Rivers recap Oct. 23, 2012
Plymouth extended the longest winning streak in 1A Four Rivers this week by beating Manteo, 44-8. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
Riverside and Southside played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Riverside eventually emerging with a 31-28 victory. Matthew Wisniewski threw for 168 yards and one touchdown in the win.
Desmond McMurran was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 12 carries, he ran for 83 yards as the Redskins bested the Seahawks. Isaiah Govan also contributed to the rushing game with 81 yards on the ground.
Brown was the best wideout in 1A Four Rivers this week as Asim Mcgill's team topped Southside. Brown tallied three receptions for 54 yards. Ryan Byrd helped Riverside's passing attack out by catching three balls for 38 yards.
Clay Wagner made the biggest impact on defense this week as Riverside defeated DeWayne Kellum's team. The 5-foot-10 sophomore recorded one fumble.
Wisniewski has thrown for 1380 yards and five touchdowns this season, while Byrd has 37 catches for 336 yards. Brown leads the league in rushing with 817 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Manteo takes on Camden County. As it stands, Eddie Twyne's team is in second, while the Bruins are in third.
Plymouth took down the Redskins 44-8 last week, the largest margin of any game.
