On Friday, Dalhart suffered a tough 55-32 loss at the hands of Whitharral. That's two games in a row now that Dalhart has lost by exactly 23 points.
Whitharral found their leader in underclassman Paige Smith, who scored 22 points along with six steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least 25% of Whitharral's points. Madi Chavez was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with eight assists and six steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Dalhart and nudges their season record down to 5-5. As for Whitharral, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-1.
Dalhart will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Reagan County at 4:00 p.m. on December 28th. Reagan County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 865th, while Dalhart is ranked 353rd). As for Whitharral, they will head out on the road to face off against Cotton Center at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cotton Center comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last nine games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
