The Green Valley Gators scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They had just enough and edged Sunrise Mountain out 94-92. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Brock Barney continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 35 points and 23 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Jacob Villablanca was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds.
Green Valley has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. As for Sunrise Mountain, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Green Valley will stay at home for another game and welcome Pinecrest Academy Cadence at 6:30 p.m. on January 22nd. Pinecrest Academy Cadence is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Sunrise Mountain, they will be playing at home against Somerset Sky Pointe at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Somerset Sky Pointe is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
