Ella Miller made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taylor Nickles, who went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Sondra Clum, who went 4-for-6 with four runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Jefferson hit Ottawa-Glandorf with a seven-run second inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Titans lost 14-1 to the Wildcats. The Titans haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Ottawa-Glandorf saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Haley Meyer, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Allen East's record now sits at 4-12. As for Ottawa-Glandorf, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.
Ottawa-Glandorf's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Allen East has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. It's a different story for Ottawa-Glandorf, though, as they've been averaging 8.7 hits. Given Allen East's sizable advantage in that area, the Titans will need to find a way to close that gap.
Allen East skirted past Ottawa-Glandorf 9-8 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
