The Vestaburg Wolverines were the 45-39 winner over the Montabella Mustangs when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Vestaburg fell 43-35 to Montabella on Friday. Vestaburg just can't catch a break and has now endured three losses in a row.
Despite the defeat, Vestaburg saw an underclassman step up: Lily Johnston scored 14 points along with two steals. Johnston has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.
Vestaburg now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Montabella, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.
Vestaburg will look to defend their home court on Monday against St. Louis at 6:30 p.m. St. Louis' defense has only allowed 27.4 points per game this season, so Vestaburg's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Montabella, they will head out on the road to square off against Breckenridge at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Breckenridge is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
