Memorial snuck past Brookfield with a 53-47 victory. Given Memorial's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while Brookfield is ranked 622nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Josue Rodriguez was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with seven steals. The match was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. Teyon Harris was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with 11 rebounds and six blocks.
Memorial is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Brookfield, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Memorial will take on LaBrae at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as LaBrae comes in on eight and Memorial on four. As for Brookfield, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Newton Falls at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Jabriel Rufai and Matteo Fortuna.
