The Mountain Vista Golden Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight defeat. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 84-58 walloping at the hands of Highlands Ranch. That's two games in a row now that Mountain Vista has lost by exactly 26 points.
Mountain Vista's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kennedy Spellman, who scored 21 points, and Grace Roscoe who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. Roscoe has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. Arianna Akey was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Highlands Ranch to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tori Baker, who scored 29 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Baker has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ezra Simonich, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Mountain Vista has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Highlands Ranch, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain Vista's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Ravens at 12:00 p.m. on January 27th. Denver South is on a three-game streak of home losses, the Golden Eagles a five-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. As for Highlands Ranch, they will head out on the road to face off against the Sabercats at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Castle View focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.
