Basketball Recap: Mountain View Prep Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Noah Byrd and Bryson Drummond

On Thursday, the Mountain View Prep Stars came up short against the Union County Yellowjackets and fell 49-40. The Stars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mountain View Prep's loss came despite strong showings from Bryson Drummond and Noah Byrd. Drummond posted 15 points, while Byrd went 5 of 8 on his way to 13 points and five rebounds. Drummond is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ma'Ori Henderson, who put up five points.

It was another big night for Eric Gray, who went 8 of 13 on his way to 26 points in addition to five boards and three steals for Union County. The dominant performance gave Gray a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Akeem Shaw, who had six points and 16 boards.

Mountain View Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Union County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain View Prep will head out to take on Chapman at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chapman is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.2 points per game this season. As for Union County, they will venture away from home to square off against Broome at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Broome will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Union County surely won't give up without a fight.
