Softball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Holt's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Fowlerville typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Holt proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Gladiators by a score of 7-3. The Rams have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Gladiators, too.

Kara Sandberg spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up 13 Ks.

At the plate, Holt got a massive performance out of Marlie Rehm, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and five RBI. Another player making a difference was Eeva Luoma, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Holt hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fowlerville struck out 13 times.

Holt has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Fowlerville, they moved to 15-10 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Holt will square off against Grand Ledge at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Fowlerville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
