Copper Canyon is a perfect 5-0 against Glendale since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Aztecs will take on the Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. Glendale took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Copper Canyon, who comes in off a win.
Copper Canyon took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past La Joya Community 11-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Aztecs have posted since March 27th.

Dariany Flores made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jesus Vega, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Gabriel Ruelas was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run.
Copper Canyon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as La Joya Community only posted an OBP of .417.
Meanwhile, Glendale lost 10-4 to Mohave on Monday. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Jose Miranda was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ezekiel Trujillo, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Copper Canyon's record is now 10-6-1. As for Glendale, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Copper Canyon has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Glendale struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Copper Canyon's way against Glendale in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Copper Canyon made off with a 20-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Aztecs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
