Horizon Science Academy couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 54-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of HEARTS for Jesus Christ on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Horizon Science Academy of the 64-51 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
HEARTS for Jesus Christ's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Josh Elsesser led the charge by scoring 13 points. Silas Nixon was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Horizon Science Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for HEARTS for Jesus Christ, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. The will square off against the Dragons at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for HEARTS for Jesus Christ, they will head out on the road to take on Christian Community at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Christian Community has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
