Ross is a perfect 10-0 against Edgewood since May of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Rams will be playing at home against the Cougars at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Ross proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 12) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past East Central 4-2.
Josi Alvis made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Paige Baker was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Edgewood made sure to put some runs up on the board against Eaton on Tuesday. The Cougars blew past the Eagles 15-2. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Madison Ferrell was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 12 matchups. Another player making a difference was Baylee Strunk, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Edgewood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Ross' win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-6. As for Edgewood, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ross hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like Edgewood struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ross got the 'W' in their previous matchup on Monday against Edgewood by a conclusive 13-1 score. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
