B District 8 recap November 5, 2013
Sidney was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Blair. The Red Raiders came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 45 last week.
Scottsbluff fell to York 28-13 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jackson Hinze was a bright spot for the Bearcats, as he threw for 76 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 18 yards in the defeat.
Peyton Hill made the biggest impact on defense this week as Sidney topped the Bears. The 5-foot-9 freshman nabbed 1 interception.
Logan Lewis provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Todd Ekart's team beat Blair. Lewis' key target this week was Lucas Rosenbaum, who caught 4 passes for 36 yards.
Lane Harvey and Lewis gave the Red Raiders a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. Harvey threw for 83 yards and 1 touchdown, while Lewis ran for 200 yards. Teammate Chance Anglin added to the ground attack by rushing for 61 yards.
5-foot-9 quarterback Hinze of Scottsbluff is the league leader in passing yards this season with 652. He has also thrown 5 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Justin Brester. The Gering star has 37 catches for 448 yards.
Sidney led B District 8 in scoring this week after putting up 36 points on Darren Harsin's team. Lewis ran for 200 yards and caught 1 pass for 11 yards during the win.
