Baseball Recap: De Soto Extends Winning Streak to Three

De Soto waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Wauzeka-Steuben Hornets. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by seven runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Bryce Schultz, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. He is becoming a predictor of De Soto's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 6-8 when he doesn't). Harris Krueger was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

The win got De Soto back to even at 9-9. As for Wauzeka-Steuben, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-14.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. De Soto will challenge rival La Farge at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Wauzeka-Steuben is set to face off against their familiar foe Kickapoo at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Hornets are on a three-game streak of home losses, and the Panthers a seven-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck.
