After a string of four wins, The Greenfield-Central Cougars''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 35-0 loss at the hands of New Palestine. The last quarter was a mere formality, since the game's final score was reached by the end of the third quarter.
Dallas Freeman threw for 125 yards on 13 of 21 attempts. Kirk Knecht was his top target, picking up 53 receiving yards. On the ground, Braylen Benavente rushed for 42 yards.
New Palestine was led to victory by Grayson Thomas and Kyler Kropp. Thomas rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns, while Kropp rushed for 124 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. Thomas hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for ten straight games.
Greenfield-Central's loss dropped their record down to 9-2. As for New Palestine, their win was their 12th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-2.
Greenfield-Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. New Palestine will head out on the road to face off against Mt. Vernon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Vernon has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 133 points over their last three games.
