Wharton is 8-2 against Alonso since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Wildcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Ravens at 7:00 p.m. Wharton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Wharton made easy work of Hillsborough and carried off an 11-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Terriers: they've now won nine in a row.
Connor Evans looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Justis Meadows and Drew Cobb did most of the damage at the plate: Meadows went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double, while Cobb scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave Cobb a new career-high. Antonio Fawcett was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Wharton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hillsborough only posted an OBP of .364.
Meanwhile, Alonso suffered their biggest loss since March 17th on Monday. They lost 8-2 to East Bay. The Ravens have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Raymond Llanes was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He also launched a home run, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Daniel Despaine, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.
Wharton's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Alonso, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-9.
Wharton was able to grind out a solid win over Alonso in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 7-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
