Even though the Franklinton Rams have not done well against the Knightdale Knights recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Franklinton took down Knightdale 55-41. The win made it back-to-back wins for Franklinton.
Leading Franklinton to victory were Asia Burton and Mikayla Taborn. Burton scored 18 points, while Taborn scored 19 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Burton has scored at least 25% of Franklinton's points. Dakota Privette was another key contributor, scoring 5 points.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Andrea Watkins, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayomide Adewumi, who scored 7 points along with 4 blocks.
Franklinton now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Knightdale, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklinton will play host again and welcome Granville Central, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Knightdale, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Southeast Raleigh at 6:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Southeast Raleigh is ranked 87th, while Knightdale is ranked 91st).
