Softball Recap: Yucca Valley Has No Trouble Against Coachella Valley

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Indio, Yucca Valley was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the Coachella Valley Mighty Arabs 9-3. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Layla Rhodes looked comfortable as she pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tayla Monroy was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Gabbi Roses also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Yucca Valley's win bumped their record up to 11-9-1. As for Coachella Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Yucca Valley will square off against Twentynine Palms at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.45 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Coachella Valley, they will take on Indio at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. The Mighty Arabs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rajahs have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
