The Randolph-Clay Red Devils were the 42-40 winner over the Seminole County Indians when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. Randolph-Clay fell 54-45 to Seminole County on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Randolph-Clay has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, Randolph-Clay saw an underclassman step up: Tyrion Smith scored 12 points along with six rebounds. The match was Smith's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jaleen Gibson, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Seminole County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ethan Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Johnson pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of JT Calloway, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Randolph-Clay has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. As for Seminole County, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Randolph-Clay won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Pataula Charter Academy at 2:00 p.m. on December 9th. Pataula Charter Academy is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Seminole County, they will be playing at home against Terrell County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Terrell County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games.
