The Borrego Springs Rams will challenge the Francis Parker Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Borrego Springs will be strutting in after a win while Francis Parker will be coming in after a defeat.
Borrego Springs is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past West Shores to the tune of 75-30 on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won seven in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Borrego Springs to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cameron Campbell, who rushed for 83 yards and one touchdown. Campbell showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 60 yards. Another player making a difference was Travis Asche, who rushed for 54 yards and a pair of TDs.
Another reason for the win was Borrego Springs' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Christopher Alcaraz and Campbell, who racked up all four sacks between them. Josef Rocha got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Borrego Springs, racking up 21 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Rocha, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Francis Parker's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. The contest between the Lancers and Julian didn't end well, with the Lancers falling 36-20. The Lancers were down 36-12 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Although Francis Parker took the loss, they still got scores from Boone Russell, Jet Pierce, and Demetrius Walcott II.
Borrego Springs' win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Francis Parker, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
