Beech Grove has gone 7-2 against Triton Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Hornets will venture away from home to square off against the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. Beech Grove is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Beech Grove blew Monrovia out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Monrovia got their revenge. The Hornets fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Hornets have suffered since May 16, 2024.
Brookelynne Rucker was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, Triton Central came tearing into Thursday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let Irvington Preparatory Academy get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won four contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Triton Central got a massive performance out of Makinah Noel, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Noel has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jayda McKee, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and two runs.
Triton Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .593. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .350 or higher in three consecutive games.
Triton Central pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Beech Grove, they moved to 5-8-1 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Beech Grove has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .431. However, it's not like Triton Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .476. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Beech Grove's way against Triton Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Beech Grove made off with a 10-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
