Westhill is 2-8 against Chittenango since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Warriors will face off against the Bears at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Monday, Westhill made easy work of Mexico and carried off a 25-7 victory.
Samantha Snyder made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Snyder was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Sophia Johnson was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances. Ava Antoine was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, while Chittenango put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Cortland. The Bears put the hurt on the Purple Tigers with a sharp 24-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Purple Tigers: they've now won four in a row.
Like Westhill, Chittenango also got a great game from a two-way player: Julia Spencer. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Spencer was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Chittenango got a massive performance out of Hannah Machan, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Alivia Cavotta, who scored two runs while going 4-for-4.
Chittenango now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Westhill, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Westhill hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .356. However, it's not like Chittenango struggles in that department as they've averaged .423. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Westhill suffered a grim 14-7 defeat to Chittenango when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
