After flying high against the Jackson Christian Royals last Tuesday, the St. Philip Catholic Central Fighting Tigers came back down to earth. St. Philip Catholic Central took a 57-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mendon on Thursday. St. Philip Catholic Central was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mendon apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Mendon was led to victory by Owen Gorham and Quincy Blair. Gorham dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds, while Blair scored 15 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Gorham has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ryder Gorham, who scored six points along with five assists and three steals.
St. Philip Catholic Central's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Mendon, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Philip Catholic Central will take on Climax-Scotts at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Mendon, they will be playing at home against Tekonsha at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
