Softball Recap: Sarasota Beats Yulee for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Sarasota waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They never let the Yulee Hornets get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory. The Sailors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by seven runs or more this season.

Not much got past Gemma Mulhollen, who gave up just three hits to keep Yulee off the board. Mulhollen has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sheridan Swain was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Ashlan Guengerich was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Sarasota was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Sarasota's win bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Yulee, they moved to 8-6-1 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Sarasota will be playing at home against Parrish Community at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Parrish Community's pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so Sarasota's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Yulee, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 10-0 loss against Crystal River on the 29th.
