The Jefferson West Tigers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They walked away with a 73-61 win over Oskaloosa. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
When it comes to explaining why Oskaloosa lost, one person who can't be blamed is Trenten Vanhoutan. Despite the final result, he scored 28 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Richie Rockhold, who scored 12 points.
Jefferson West's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-5. As for Oskaloosa, they dropped their record down to 5-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Jefferson West's road trip will continue as they head out to face Atchison at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Atchison is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Oskaloosa, Oskaloosa and Valley Falls will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Valley Falls focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Saturday.
