The Centennial Broncos will head out on the road to take on the Fillmore Central Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Centennial comes in on three and Fillmore Central on four.
Centennial scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They blew past Centura 59-36. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Centennial has posted yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Centennial to victory, but perhaps none more so than Devin Slawnyk, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Hirschfeld, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Fillmore Central put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Heartland 69-26 at home. Given Fillmore Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Heartland is ranked 181st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fillmore Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Trevor Roach led the charge by scoring ten points. Another player making a difference was Daniel Stoner, who scored ten points.
Centennial's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3. As for Fillmore Central, their win bumped their record up to 13-1.
Centennial couldn't quite finish off Fillmore Central in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 and fell 48-45. Can Centennial avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
