Fort Chiswell is 7-2 against Giles since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Pioneers will host the Spartans at 5:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Fort Chiswell sitting on four straight victories and Giles on three.
On Thursday, Fort Chiswell got the win against Floyd County by a conclusive 12-6.

Blair Jackson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Annalees Kuehl, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Katelyn Frazier was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Fort Chiswell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Floyd County only posted a batting average of .267.
Seven must be Giles' lucky number: they beat George Wythe with that score not once but twice on Monday. The Spartans beat the Maroons by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-4.
Fort Chiswell pushed their record up to 12-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Giles, their win bumped their record up to 11-5.
Fort Chiswell was able to grind out a solid victory over Giles in their previous matchup last Wednesday, winning 4-1. Will the Pioneers repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
